SOLO ACT is a TV series pilot produced by Long Island University’s MFA in Writing and Producing for TV.
Punk guitarist Luci leaves her small town in Georgia and comes to NYC to take her shot at stardom in the Best of Brooklyn contest. When this solo act learns that she needs a band to compete, she's challenged to shrug off her solitude, forgive a family member, and trust new friends.
SOLO ACT is the capstone project of my MFA, and was developed during the two years of the program. We managed a budget of $50K.
About Long Island University's MFA in Writing and Producing for TV
Created by Emmy-Award Winner and veteran screenwriter Norman Steinberg, the main goal of the 48-credit MFA in Writing and Producing for Television at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, is to educate and to develop highly skilled, experienced professionals with strong portfolios who will be prepared to begin careers in the television industry as writers, producer, entrepreneurs, etc.
I've been awarded with the Fulbright Scholarship, in combination with The Norman Steinberg Scholarship and The George Polk School Scholarship, from Long Island University, in order to attend to this 2-years master's program.
Courses include History of TV, Episode Writing, Video Production, Intellectual Property or Moving Image Production.
My Roles
WRITER
• Writing original and spec scripts.
• Co-writing a TV Series.
• Co-writing SOLO ACT (TV Series Pilot), professionally produced in January, 2023.
FIRST ASSISTANT CAMERA
Under the supervision of Director of Photography Larry Banks (Juice, Monsters).
• Working with professional camera equipment (Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K Pro).
• Maintaining and organizing camera equipment and accessories.
• Assembling and disassembling equipment during the shoot.
• Collaborating with the DP to determine the director's vision.
• Working with camera operators to focus an image.
• Ordering, checking in and out camera equipment from film rental place.
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY, SECOND UNIT
• Filming selected scenes for SOLO ACT around Brooklyn and Manhattan in New York City.
SOCIAL MEDIA, DESIGNER AND MANAGER
• I was in charge of the social media strategy for the SOLO ACT premiere in May 2023, which is a 20-minute TV pilot that I co-wrote and professionally co-produced as LIU's MFA in Writing and Producing for TV group thesis.
• As a social media designer, I created the SOLO ACT movie poster, invite, and different illustrations for Instagram, and Facebook, and distributed around campus.
• As a social media manager, I published content on social media to promote the event. I also co-created and handled the Eventbrite event.

• As part of the SOLO ACT universe, we developed 'Your Addictions' music video.

PROPS
• Assisting the prop department. Designed videos, etc...
